Help Is Here
Hello. My name is Sekou Yansane, I am from Oakland, California, and I am the new intern for Fill Me In English Language Services (FMI). This past June, I graduated from El Cerrito High School, and will be attending UC Santa Barbara this September. My intended major: Sociology.
I am interning at FMI in hopes of gaining valuable, real-world work experience for future jobs. Coming into this position, I didn’t really know what to expect. I thought I’d make copies, deliver mail, or --maybe-- draft emails. So far, I have been surprised at the different things I have done. I have xeroxed papers and updated the events page on Fill Me In’s website; right now, I’m in the process of helping to design a soon-to-be published advertisement. In the coming weeks, I’ll update social media pages, transfer social media content to another blog, and --possibly-- help script, shoot, and edit commercials. I may do some data entry, too.
I got this position through the Youth Employment Program (YEP), here, in Oakland. I started in late July --four days ago, to be exact-- so I am still learning the ropes. Although I won’t be working here for long (again, my college career begins in the fall), I am certain that I will get a wealth of relevant and transferable training.
